Soon enough, you're eyes will have the pleasure of feasting upon my contribution for this entertaining weekly event, but I wanted to tell you about a Swedish tradition a little before we get to the pictures.
Today is traditionally "Fat Tuesday" over here. "Fat Tuesday" is the last day before the Christian fasting period begins, and on that day (back in ancient times) people would eat like crazy in order to make it through the fast. As far as I know - this is not celebrated at all in the United States, but I found something out that I didn't previously know as I checked out some facts on the internet, so I could write about this for all of you.
"Fat Tuesday" = Mardi Gras!
Yeah, I was surprised to find that in french this day is called Mardi Gras, and the festivities in New Orleans, and other places, each year are in fact named after this particular day. Interesting little tidbit right there, huh?
While the whole religious theme of this day is no more, we still enjoy the traditional "Semla", and below I have posted a picture of the particular one I am going to have the pleasure of eating tonight (I quickly arranged the picture, and I've got two of those beauties waiting for me in the refrigerator).
Traditionally, today was the ONLY day one could buy one of these, but nowadays you can buy them through most of January and well into March... but that's it. So it's always special when you find these in the coffee shops and at the grocery store!
This is how wikipedia describes this typical Swedish pastry:
Today, the semla consists of a cardamom-spiced wheat bun which has its top cut off and insides scooped out and is then filled with a mix of the scooped-out bread crumbs, milk and almond paste, topped with whipped cream. The cut-off top is then put back as a lid and dusted with icing sugar.
So, now that I've got your mouths watering - lets take a look at the pictures for this weeks WWC!

Next week we are going to play with the words MOTION and SUSPEND. So grab that camera of yours and get busy snapping pictures!
Later, dudes!
