Last Days Chronicles: Finale

Freedom!

I am done, over and out, adios amigos, no more work at Hell Hole for this Ramblin' Madman!

Surprised myself at the amount of work I put in today... thing is - it was easy to do it, because whatever I did I could think; Hey, this is the last time I ever have to do this crap!

Before lunch today, my mom showed up at the place. She's been wanting this computer desk that we sell for quite some time, and I had told her she should come in and look at it before I buy it for her. She got to see a little of what I go through on an everyday basis over there.

I was called on several times during the short time she was there, because the others needed help, and didn't know how to do things. My mother couldn't understand why they'd let me go, and was asking me how they were going to cope without me... haha!

At lunch today... I went to Hollywood. Sounds awesome right. It was - but it wasn't very far. My favorite Pizza joint (same place I went to yesterday) is called just that - Hollywood. I got me a nice steak with some home fries today, instead of the pizza. It was absolutely deeee-lish! It's like they knew I "deserved" something special today.

Also, at lunch, all but one of my co-workers ambushed me in the breakroom, and presented a potted plant and a bottle of whiskey - as a farewell gift.

That's what four years at the place was worth ;)

Honestly - it was nice. I really didn't think they would have bought me anything. Just a pat on the back and "good luck" would have sufficed. This was nice - especially that plant. Precisely the kind of thing I want in my home. The whiskey will be drunk, and probably mess me up good.

I also got a cake, and 15 minutes later in the day to sit down with a cup of java and eat it... it was a "semla" cake. That thing was delicious too!

All in all - it was quite a pleasant day at work. Surely so because I knew it was the last day I would ever do at the place - so there was no frustration going on. Something didn't go right... what do I care? Right? Right!

So - time to celebrate!

What better way to celebrate than with a cold beer, and some really good party music? And, because of that - I present to you what I think is the ultimate party song of all time. Van Halen's "Ain't Talkin' 'Bout Love" is one of those songs that gets me in a good mood every single time I hear it.

The intro guitar riff is a classic that will never ever die. It just grabs you immediately and lets you know it's time to party hardy!

That's Rock'n'Roll for you!

Sounds like a damn good last day. Interesting that a last day gift is so similar to what I give people for house warming.

what "mood" is that REH?
(Boy, I'm hoping it's the answer I want)
~LOL!~
Pass me a beer baby! Then I have to run home and throw on my party dress. Something special just for you.

I can't wait to see what you blog after you've polished off the whiskey! :)

Well it's finally over and you get to move on with your life dude.

That plant and whiskey is a heck of a lot more than any of the three places that laid me off gave me! LOL

Enjoy your whiskey and beer. You've earned it. I'll have a drink in your honor tonight too!

Good for you!

It's hard to enjoy what you do if it doesn't fulfill you the way you need it too...I hope you can find something that leaves you feeling sated...uhm...besides the whiskey ;-)

Dang blogger ate my comment!

Grrr... I think what I said was, how nice that your coworkers gave you such a send off! I have never gotten such a present.

I hope you enjoy your first day of freedom tomorrow... unless you have a hangover. And can I say, if you're downing the whiskey tonight, please consider drunken blogging! :)

Happy friday!

Sorry! I'm here but I gotta' have a SHOT and run! Time to fry some shrimp for my fav-in-laws ((love-em))!

I got caught up at the grocery store trying to find a good cake for Jay's b-day...then, I realized I already had Shiner at home so I ran back over there.

On the way home I forgot I told lakota princess I'd hit the liquor store -- they were outa' Svedka. So no vodka here.

Then I was lookin' for y'all but I was in the other room [last post].

"YEEEEHAWWWWW!!! Happy Last Work Day!!! (Don't forget to Happy B-day Jay, it's his 40th. I couldn't find 40 candles so I got the 4 and the 0 and just stuck'em on there together!!!)

MAN, wish I could'a got some vodka. I'll toast with a Shiner!

[scrambling in pockets for the silly joke toast I'd prepared earlier....fli$p9nG $h!tboot, where is that damn thing....]

Oh, well. Here's to r.e.h. and all the new things he's going to endeavor (after recooperating from the hang-over tomorrow).

CHEERS (every body clink your glasses and beer bottles now!)

GAWD, i hate when i walk into the wrong room. Great potential for embarrassment... especially when nekkid peoples are in there... doing... stuff. Not that REH lets anyone do... stuff... here - but you know what i mean.
Whaaaa? I swear - only two... three... okay, four drinks so far.
Sushi anyone?

L.P. said...

Knight: Well, being laid off is sort of like a housewarming... isn't it? I'll be spending a lot more time at home now ;)

Lakota Princess: That mood is... well, let's just say I Ain't Talkin' 'Bout Love, baby!...

As long as I'm the one who gets to throw that dress off of you later!

Leighann: That should be interesting... sticking with the beer tonight though ;)

Jay: Life is going in a new direction now... it'll be sweet.

And, I'll knock down a couple of beers in honor of your big day too!

You have a fantastic Birthday Dude!

*CHEEERS!*

Lakota Princess: Enjoyed the dance... here's your kiss:

*smooch*

Enjoy the whiskey! If you drink it all at once at least blog drunkly! LOL!

R.E.H. said...

Dana: *clank* (That's the sound of my can of Pripps colliding with your raised glass of Grey Goose)

"Bottoms Up!"

Scarlett: The job I just left didn't satisfy any of my needs... the whiskey will satisfy one or two of them ;)

Fiwa: Hate it when Blogger eats your comments.

Yeah, it was a nice gift. I appreciate it a lot actually.

The whiskey will sit for a while, only beer tonight, so only slightly intoxicated comment responding going on tonight!

Single In The City: Mazel Tov! And you go easy on the NyQuil... get well soon!

Farmer's Wife: Busy evening, is it? Got some leftover fried shrimp?

And, hey let's give another shout-out to Jay and the big four-oh!

PS. You even censored shitboot - LOL!

R.E.H. said...

Lakota Princess (x2): What kind of rooms do you frequently barge into unannounced... and (yeah, right) mistakenly ;)

Music? What's wrong with my Van Halen song?

Liv: It is! Certainly cause for a celebration!

Jay Cam: Well, it certainly can't get any worse!

RockDog: If I dwingk all that wishkee... drunkly bloggy shall commensh...

REH, it played 26x while you were gone. I counted. You need to kiss me again to make it all better.
And hell yeah, you can be the one to rip the dress off. It IS your day, your party now isn't it? ~wink~
I think I'm ready for Sex on the Beach.

Sparkling Red said...

Woohoo! Done like dinner. You made it! And you got a really nice plant into the bargain. You take care of that little green baby, and she'll bring good vibes to your home.

(Yes, I know everyone else is more excited about the whiskey, but I don't drink so I can't really appreciate it. I know you will... just don't give it to the plant. ;-)

Farmer*swife a/k/a Glass_Half_Full said...

Am I too late for LAST CALL!?

sparkling red is right. The plant deserves as much credit [more] than the whiskey. Cuz' the whiskey is a good party but then she'll leave you alone in the mornin'.

The plant will oxygenate your home and grow for you proudly (so long as you sun, water, and talk sweetly to it -- plants really DO like that)....I guess, we ALL really do like that [smiley-wink]

So, was coffee Hottie invited to the party?

R.E.H. said...

Lakota Princess: Sex on the beach... oooh - been a while since I had that! Guess I need to move somewhere where there is a beach ready and willing... huh?

Sparkling Red: Yeah, I do hope to take care of that plant... I know just where to put it too - been thinking for a while about getting something like that.

Farmer's Wife: You just made final call... I'm finishing up my last beer for the night, before I will hit the hay!

Coffee hottie would've been invited had I seen her... damn - I could sure use her tucking me in right about now ;)

L.P. said...

WAAAIIITTTTTT!!!! I need my good night kiss!

Mike said...

Hey, R.E.H

From my readings it sounds like the job sucked arse anyways.

Time to move onto bigger and better things!

If you're ever in town come on down, i'll give you a moose head (it's a beer, not a really big blow job).

well, at least you got a present. And a drinkable one at that! I worked at a major retail store for close to 6 years and when I graduated nursing school, on my last day of work there, I got a good bye card and a cupcake.
I say... lets get drunk and blog!

Congratulations! The plant is a great compliment. It means they think you are responsible and thoughtful. They think you won't kill it with neglect.

This ranks as your happiest post in recent memory. Keep the momentum from this day. Let it carry you on to better things. Go out there and capitalize on your good energy.

You finally put up a song I like.

Seriously - commit to getting what you want. You can make it happen. Now go get some!

Congratulations! You made it through! Enjoy your well earned time off and leisurely find yourself something you really like to do! The plant should be a nice touch in the house and the whiskey should inspire some really great job ideas! Nothing like drunk reading the want ads.

Take Care

Lakota Princess: I gave you a goodnight kiss earlier... you don't remember??? I'm hurt.

Mike: Thank God that is a beer... you had me a little worried there for a second ;)

Yeah, the job did suck the big one.

(what's with all the oral references?)

HoosierGirl5: I sure hope the future holds better things for me!

Indiana is in Eastern Standard Time, right? If so - I'm six hours ahead of you.

No More Empty Fortune Cookies: A goodbye card and a cupcake after six years - that's very kind of them... you did flip them the bird when they presented that, I hope.

Seriously, that's about what I expected to get - so the plant and the alcohol was a pleasant surprise, I must say.

Unsigned: Thank You. This is my happiest post? Well... I suppose you're right - doesn't that go some ways to showing how much I hated this job ;)

I shall no begin my crusade on to better things... and some "action" ;)

R.E.H. said...

Fu Manchu Dad: Drunken job hunting could be dangerous business. You'd never be quite sure what kind of job you'd wake up having committed to ;)

Leisurely find something I like - I really like the sound of that!

Casdok: To my future! *clink*

Baby... that request was from the night before. You need to catch UP! You can make it up to me with a good morning kiss.

Dianne said...

I must say you all look fabulous after a night of whiskey and beer!

I think I'm going to have a cocktail for breakfast - a little vodka and OJ - hell, OJ has vitamins.

Here's to you REH! To a limitless future. Cheers!

Anybody got any excedrine migraine? Sheeze...I think I had one shot too many.

It was a good time, though!

Happy Saturday!

(Um, I didn't dance on the table or anything, did I?)

R.E.H. said...

Lakota Princess: Alright, alright... I'm sorry babe. Here's your goodmorning kiss.

*pucker up*

All is good now?

Dianne: I sure don't feel as fabulous as I may look ;)

A "shot" of vitamins is a good way to start a new day!

Farmer's Wife: I think that question is best left unanswered... ;)

It was a good time though!

Yuppers. All is now good in my world.

Lakota Princess: Good. Glad I could please you ;)

Jill said...

Is there so whiskey left for me?

Karen said...

Cake and whiskey. Sounds good to me. Good luck.

R.E.H. said...

Jill: You drank it all - don't you remember?

Karen: Cake and Whiskey, yes - but not necessarily together ;)

Jill said...

NO! Did I did again?
And what did you do to me that I don't remember?

R.E.H. said...

Jill: Uhm... Nothing... *whistles innocently*

Guilty Secret said...

Glad to hear it went so well.

I have that plant too. Well, not that exact one. Unless... actually... OMG your co-workers came to my house and stole my plant!

g-man said...

I'll have a beer in your honor!!

Congrats.

R.E.H. said...

Guilty Secret: I knew those bastards wouldn't have spent any money on me! ;)

I like the plant, it's cool.

R.E.H. said...

Newt: Thanks, that is a cool plant.

Sorry reh, I've been way to busy lately. I'm trying to catch up...a plant and a bottle? Is that the Swede way to say adios? or are they just lame? Nice plant though. I wonder how well it will travel though? Customs probably won't let it in the country....will it? tht is if you decide to come visit us all...teehee...

R.E.H. said...

TT: Yeah, I've been missing you 'round these parts ;)

Yeah, I guess that is the Swedish way of saying goodbye. That's what is usually given... the booze is a given, the other gift can be just about anything, but plants are quite common.

I don't think it would be a problem getting that plant through customs... but, I don't think the plant goes with me should I move anyway - more important things to take with me than some plant I am likely to kill within a year ;)

You might have not been so innocent during my drunken amnesia!
