Funday Sunday: "I Kick Ass For The Lord"

Now... two weeks ago I gave you that clip of a zombie baby from Peter Jackson's movie "Brain Dead". You have probably figured that it is one of my all time favorite movies. It was a bit of a surprise to me that it seemed to go down pretty well with most of you, so I'm bringing back that same movie for this weeks Funday Sunday.

One of the reasons is that this is really the clip I wanted to show, but decided against... because it is kind of violent and bloody. Then Knight posted this as part of a comment in that thread:

Knight: "No blood? What kind of zombie movie is this?"

Well, here's some blood and gore for you. Still not anywhere near what is represented throughout the film, but at least a decent chunk of violent, gory fun.

The way I like horror comedies to be made is to do them like a Tom & Jerry cartoon. You know, over the top and non-stop hilarious action. Why aren't there more films made in the "cartoon" fashion. Sam Raimi did the "Evil Dead" films, which are really the only one's that truly match this one.

No, watch that clip, and enjoy some serious zombie ass-kickin'!

too early in the morning yet for blood and gore REH... ~covering my eyes~
but lean closer and let me bite you. That's as zombieish as I need to get.

Fabulous! Just F'ing Fabulous!

I love when the head fell on his shoulder. And the short, choppy Zombie karate was perfect.

It dawned on me - Mike Huckabee could use this as a campaign ad. He'd be brilliant in a gray wig and purple cape. Then he could illustrate how he "kicks ass for the Lord"

Oh what a lovely Sunday morning treat - thanks REH. ;)

"I kick ass for the Lord!" LOL that's friggin' classic! I kept waiting for that one zombie to say "Come back here, it's just a flesh wound!" ;)
~Thanks r.e.h.! what better way to start a Funday-Sunday than with zombies and ass kickin's on behalf of the lord? A woot-hootin' good time! :)

Hmmmm, I'm going to have to build up to viewing the zombies.

Funny you should mentioned Tom & Jerry though. My kids watched it most the day yesterday (they were ill, I don't babysit with the T.V.).

As one still has fever, they are watching a T & J movie this a.m. as well.

Oh man. I haven't even thought about breakfast yet. I'm not ready for zombie gore. A nice multigrain pita is more what I'm desiring at the moment. ;-)

wait... i have a movie on the tip of my mind that you should show....
if only i could remember!

I love zombie movies - this was funny. I tried to watch Robert Rodriguez's "Grindhouse" last night. I had to turn it off - I can do horror (esp. pscyhological horror) but I can't do gore. Obviously, I had to turn it off.

I'll stick with my all time favorite of "Shaun of the Dead". . .

That was fantastic! I need to see this movie as a whole!

You're right about Evil Dead though! My husband has been playing Evil Dead on his PS2.

As an aspiring mortician zombies scare me. So thanks for that trip into occupational hell. ;)

Speaking of Sam Raimi, Ellen Page (Juno) just dropped out of his latest project "Drag Me to Hell"

I don't know if it's just horror or a zombie film, but I guess they are just about to start production.

Which also reminds me. I'm sure you already know about this site ...

I'm not really into Zombie movies that much though. I did love "Shaun of the Dead" but that's kind of zombie lite really.

If you want to see a really cool zombie movie check this one out. It's called "Zombie Movie" and it was made in New Zealand. It's about three 80's metal heads that get trapped in their car by a horde of zombies. It's only 13 minutes long but it's pure gold. Check it out. You like metal. There's a good file of it on Google video.

Lakota Princess: Biting? That sounds more vampire-ish. But, that's ok - vampires are much more sexy than zombies are anyway ;)

Dianne: Haha! Yes, the funny thing is, he'd probably gain a vote or two using this in his campaign...

No More Empty Fortune Cookies: Yes, that line is certainly a classic. I love it, hehe.

Farmer's Wife: Yeah, I should do a Tom & Jerry post one of those Funday Sunday's. No other cartoon comes close as far as I'm concerned... love that cat'n'mouse chase!

Sparkling Red: A little zombie gore before breakfast is actually quite refreshing ;)

So, we're on for catching a bite together? ~chuckling~

Jay Cam: I hate to tell you this, but you sound like my mother. She always says "Oh, you should really see this movie. I think you would like it!"

"What movie is that?"

"Oh, I don't remember the name... it had that guy in it, you know"

"What guy?"

"Oh, what's his name... He was in that movie you know..."

It's actually quite funny once you think about it ;)

Jen: You can't do gore? You love zombie movies, and your all-time favorite is Shaun Of The Dead (which incidentally is full of gore)... but you can't do gore?

You're funny, Jen ;)

Leighann: Yes you do. I'm surprised no one yet has seen it. It was a huge hit when it came out... Peter Jackson became famous because of it.

Casdok: Glad to hear it. So do I! ;)

Steph: Welcome!

I'm sorry about that, hehe. But, you do realize zombies are just fantasy, right? They don't exist in real life... you know - like Superman!

Jay: I actually don't know much about Sam Raimi's latest project. All I know is that I've heard that he's going back to his roots of making horror again - real horror. That is promising enough... I can't wait.

Yes, I know of bloody-disgusting. And Shaun Of The Dead was a cool movie.

Unsigned: I'm gonna have to check that one out... I think I've heard of it, but I'm pretty sure I haven't seen it yet. I'll let you know what I think.

Lakota Princess: Oh, yes. I know of this great place that serves "Skull Full of Human Brains". Deee-licious!

Or... we could go to that nice little Italian restaurant...

Off the subject? Since you are fluent in Swedish? Tell us something romantically sweet that we could whisper to ourselves when we need to hear something of that nature?

Or we could say it outloud and no one would know what we were saying.

FYI, I especially liked the "Skitstövel." It's one of my new fun terms.

Am I getting too needy?

3rd and last for the night, but in good habit. Prob no sleep tonight -- well, I'll get the drop off until my mind wakes me.

Daughter has surgery tomorrow. Hopin' it fixes things so we don't have to go totally invasive. Poor child. She's been miserable.

I'm blessed though. Her brains are intact as well shared by her "attitude."

I wish 5:am would come tomorrow for me as quickly as yours will. Actually, you are already there.

Happy Monday at your last week...you can make it. Hang in there!

If I want to go back to sleep, I will not watch this....

talk to you in a few, like when the horror stuff is gone!

LOL!!!

Farmer's Wife (x2): Swedish is like the least romantic language on the planet...

But, if you insist ;) Try

"Du är underbar", on for good measure (it means "You are wonderful").

I hope everything goes well with your daughter's surgery. I'll keep you both in my thoughts!

Single In The City: Well, this is not scary horror - this is funny horror! ;)

Alright... I'll try to limit the horror blog posts so I don't scare you.

Ah that was fantastic! Ripping the limbs off made me think of the black knight in "Monty Python and the Holy Grail" He looses all his limbs and is still fighting "It's merely a flesh wound."
I love the last bit of gore. Why does it always look like we are 1 part blood, 1 part snot, in these movies?
Have you ever seen "Fido"? http://imdb.com/title/tt0457572/
It's hilarious and very gory. They have found a way to keep zombies as pets. A dream come true!

At risk of sounding like a total schmuck... but, isn't that the beauty of it all? ;)

I've never heard of that "Fido" movie... sounds like something I'll have to check out!

This was good, but I still prefer the baby one!
And i hope they have good clothes detergent!

Jill: Baby one is funny... this one has more gore - and I love me some gore! ;)
