Better Than Butter

To begin with... I'll offer my sincere apologies to Tink of Pickled Beef, and everyone else who expected a little WWC play from me yesterday.

I was going to take my camera out yesterday morning and get some pics, but my head was blank. Couldn't come up with a damn thing that was either Rough or Smooth - one of those days when the brain cells have obviously decided that "today is a good day for closing down shop". On top of that, I wasn't home last night to even put up an apologetic post. I will hopefully make up for this terrible behavior next week - and I'll even try to come up with some shots for ROUGH and SMOOTH. Next week, I promise to be back in the action, when we play with the words CLOSE-UP and BACKGROUND.

I am such a pathetic loser!

Yet, I've been handed a couple more awards, and I thought I'd announce them today (how do you like that combo for today's post?).

First up, Jo of Whatever... spent some 8 hours or so in the kitchen, carefully sculpting a chunk of butter into the shape of a heart, and set up some beautiful lighting to take a picture of it. Then she ran it through some photoshopping to add the words "BETTER THAN BUTTER", and handed out this beautiful award to some people. She also explained why she thought we deserved this awesome award:

"REH is a bundle of complex goodies--romanticism, grit, domesticity, creativity that often leans towards the dark, a personality that inspires laughter, loyalty, empathy. It's very special the way these contrasts come together in him & make sense. He shares his life courageously, and isn't afraid to dig deeper."

I loved those words... I think I may have choked up a little there, reading that! Thanks Jo! I am honored!

Then, Freakazojd over at Freakazojd's Palace also decided to bestow me with the coveted E! for Excellent award. That makes it a total of three times I've been awarded this one - and you all should know, by now, that my lucky number is 3! That's just fantastic!

Take a look over at the sidebar to see my Trophy Case, where these awards are now proudly presented for the world to see.

Yes, you were missed at WWC this week. :*(
But congrats on the awards, and now I'm off to read about my deadly sins...I'm worried about this one...

Dana said...

Well then, no more "E for Excellence" Awards for you! We wouldn't want you to leave lucky number land!

For the record, I agree with Jo!

Kcinnova: Yeah, I feel terrible about missing the WWC. It's the first one I missed out on since I joined in... but I'll make up for it somehow.

Dana: Today, I don't feel like I deserve any awards, for screwing up the WWC...

...anyway, I'm glad to hear you agree with Jo. I thought those words were wonderful - I didn't know I was such a complex character though ;)

Just so long as you remember who gave you that *original* E. ;)

Leighann said...

Congrats on your awards!

(How's that for original?)

Newt said...

I kept checking and checking just waiting in anticipation of your WWC. But, considering I missed like, 3 or 4 weeks in a row, well, I'll let you slide on this one.

And I LOVED what Jo said about you. Her award was perfect for you. I just love the way she writes.

Congrats! Congrats! Congrats!

You're too tough on yourself. Even I, the HOST, have to take a Tuesday off every once in awhile. Although you might want to post some pictures for the April Fools Day words sometime this week. I made up a nifty button for all the people who actually went along with my joke. :)

Anonymous said...

Seems you're popular with the ladies, no?

Congrats to you!

Jo said...

I thought for sure you were going to post a photo of yourself for smooth-and-rough :P

It was easy writing that about you for the award, all true! I was going to shape the butter like boobs for you, but it looked kinda like a bottom & I thought that would be confusing LOL!

Jo said...

Forgot to add: Thanks, Newt XO

Knight said...

MMM... butter. I think Jo described you perfectly.
I almost missed the WWC this week. Nobody can blame you for taking a week off. I trust you will make it up to us.
Now what are you going to do with all that butter?

Jay said...

Let's see here. Jo, Tink and Freakazojd.

That's a whole lotta awesomeness right there!

fiwa said...

Congratulations on your awards - well deserved, of course. :)

As far as not posting for WWC, everybody has an off day. I hardly ever play, unless I already have a picture in mind for the words when Tink posts them. Uh, wait a second... I take that back, SHAME ON YOU! I feel so... let down!! (the preceeding is just so that you'll go back to playing next week - because I really do enjoy looking at your pictures. Did it work? ;)

lovins,
fiwa

I love "I'm such a pathetic loser" followed by let me tell you about my awards.

See that is the stuff that legend is made of. And one of the reasons I adore you.

I think an off day is fine and I'm hesitant to feel obligated to blog about anything on any given day. So many obligations that can't be avoided I don't want it to contaminate my joy for blogging. Then again - I can't miss a Wordzzle or a PFC - it's like missing a party I really want to attend.

So what the hell am I saying?

I think we should all get together and butter wrestle.

Sparkling Red said...

I can't believe you're not butter!

But seriously now, congratulations. You're going to have to set time aside every few weeks to keep those trophies dusted so that they shine like the day you got them. ;-)

Guilty Secret said...

Hello, I haven't commented in a while but just wanted to pop up to tell you I have been keeping an eye on things over here, watching your trophy cabinet fill up and thinking of you :)

Weirdly enough, I actually had a dream about you last night!

Well you are just a regular award king aren't you! Congrats. What a cute little picture of butter too. Very creative of Jo.

Congratulations to you, reh! I love that Jo came up with that picture. Did she or was that sarcasm, too? What the hell, we're going to say she slaved away to get it perfect and perfect it is!

Well done!

Doc said...

Congrats on the awards REH... I must keep you on my "to read" list if you are better than butter!

R.E.H. said...

~Angela~: That is one thing I will never forget - your name will remain at the top of the list under that award!

Leighann: LOL! Where do you come up with stuff like that??? ;)

Newt: That's right! You missed a few WWC's yourself... I still feel bad about it though... :(

Jo seems to have me all figured out, doesn't she? ;)

Tink: I am SO relieved that you're not angry with me... I thought you were gonna come at me with a blowtorch or something, screaming "how dare you???" ;)

I'll have to check out that nifty April Fool's Day Button!

Butterfly Girl: At least here in Blogville! ;) I kinda wish sometimes I had the same effect on the Vicinity Women...

Anonymous said...

hmmmm Knight aka My sis! said what ya gonna do with all that butter? I say I got something for ya! I hope it is I can't believe it's NOT butter, so your cholesterol does not get really high! HEHE!!! (this is caring quality statement) LOL!!!

You deserve every award you get, I agree with how Jo described you also! I have a couple more to use also!

Lets see what is around the corner for some more awards!!!

Smooches!!! Thanks for the comment on the story, I took your advice!

R.E.H. said...

Jo: You know what? I actually took a before and after I shaved picture that I thought of using as the sole contribution - they were abysmal, so I scrapped the idea ;)

And... I've heard the term butter-butt, but never butter-boobs so that would've been a new one ;) I like the heart though... did you know - if you want to look at a woman's heart your eyes are right where you want them to be ;)

Again - I can't thank you enough for the award and the kind words!

Knight: I'll put that butter-heart in an honorary place, with a tiny fan next to it to keep it from melting when the weather gets warm ;)

And, I'll do my best to make up for my missed WWC!

Jay: I think that IS a whole lotta awesomeness indeed! I'm flattered either one of them would give me the time of their day!

Fiwa: Thanks. And, your tactics did wonders... now I certainly have no place to hide. Next week I'll have to bring y'all something special!

Dianne: Legend? I would love to be a legend! Legends never die, you know ;)

I was originally hesitant of any "forced" blogging days as well - but I started my own Funday Sunday... then I got involved in WWC... then again I started the PFC and then I found Wordzzle... pretty soon I don't have any days to blog about nothing... and you all know how I like to blog about nothing! ;)

I'm like a Seinfeld re-run... they can have their show about nothing... I have my BLOG about nothing! ;)

R.E.H. said...

Sparkling Red: I think I'm going to have to hire me a maid, just to take care of the Trophy Case... a hot one! ;)

Guilty Secret: Hey! I've been missing you around here, you know. It's lonely without you ;)

Uhm... care to share that dream? ;)

Emmeline: I know. I'm baffled! I'm not sure I deserve all this attention, but it sure is welcome ;)

Cardiogirl: No sarcasm! Jo made that award from scratch! Well, I don't know if it took her eight hours in the kitchen to carve it nice like that, but that is about how long it would take me to make it even resemble a heart!

Doc: Thanks. You know, I'm just worried someone's going to spread me on a piece of toast - but people don't spread stuff that's better than butter on a measly slice of toast, do they? ;)

Single In The City: I love that you care about me so much you've got plans for me and my butter ;) I'm curious!.

Glad you did post that story - can't wait to read on...

...and that dude. I have a jar of acid stashed somewhere - want me to bring it over and force him to put his little Willy in there?

(Damn! That's brutal!) ;)

Anonymous said...

I like the sound of that acid!! LOL!! but he got his, and he wants back.. NOT going to happen at all.

The plans for the butter is umm top secret cannot post it here! LOL!!
I think I am a friendly tease. LOL!!

I agree...you really are excellent! And don't be so hard on yourself...even our brain cells need a vacation every now and then!

R.E.H. said...

Single In The City: Ok, I'll dig up the acid - as long as you keep those butter-plans up ;)

Anndi: Glad you find me both interesting and cute... hey! That's a pretty special combination right there ;)

Single In The City: Wheee! I'll be right over!

Real Live Lesbian: Thanks. Yeah, lately my brain hasn't been quite up to speed... but it's starting to come back to me ;)

Loved your vacation pics... wow!

Congrats on your awards! (I posted my little "winner" circle from your "Third day of the month" story!) :)

I luuuuvvvv Seinfeld. Watch the re-runs everynight (unless I fall asleep) after "Two & 1/2 Men."

I miss your "blogging about nothing [and everything]" ;-)

Happy Thursday!

Congratulations. You deserve it. I think she described you perfectly.

Jahooni said...

I finally got my first award from SITC! Woo Hoo! I am doing the Happy Dance! ;)~

oh and kudos to you too!

R.E.H. said...

Farmer*s Wife: Yean, every time I come across a Seinfeld episode I'm hooked - I cannot flip my way away from that channel.

I'll have to come on over and see that award in your Trophy Case then. And such a well deserved award it is!

Raven: Thank You!

Jahooni: Yeah, I saw that you won that award too! Congratulations! Now, you do have a long-winded speach written in preparation, don't you?

Farmer*swife a/k/a Glass_Half_Full said...

[dripping in butter]...umm, you might wanna' put that butter in the fridge.

Apparently, it's starting to melt cuz' I slipped in it when I came in and fell on my bum.

I slipped all the way into this post and completely missed the new one! [half limping and rubbing said bum as I exit to the current post] :)

R.E.H. said...

Farmer*s Wife: Oh, NO! You didn't step on my heartshaped butter did you??? Is it ruined?! ;)

Guilty Secret said...

Well... let's just say I found myself in Sweden and came pretty close to being unfaithful... and then I woke up!

Oh dear, I think I've got myself a little blog crush... must have been because I read your comment on Emmeline's post saying you found it quite arousing just before I went to sleep... (insert bashful-looking emoticon here)

Farmer*swife a/k/a Glass_Half_Full said...

Whew! No, not ruined. I just slipped in the drips. Hope you remembered to preserve it in the fridge (possibly in saran wrap -- to keep the germies out of it).

Later Gator

Happy Saturday, by the way!!!

(Oh, hey? Where are those work out pics? Thought we were gonna' get the play by play?)

[smiley-wink] I'm feelin' happy!

Randomness to me is extremely cool!

I'm in web development and programming, and I am an artistic nutcase, so I completely thing having a menu-maker is a cool thing to do. I also know that just when you think you are the only person to have thought of something, you aren't... I bet there are plenty others out there.

Congrats on the awards!! At least you guys get a lot of visitors and comments. Mine usually go begging. ;)

R.E.H. said...

Guilty Secret: As long as you didn't awake out of fear... ;) I would like to hear the rest of that dream...

Well, I don't know if it helps - but I found your comments on here a little arousing too ;)

Farmer*s Wife: Yes... I was considering doing that whole "progress" pics of my success at the gym... but, we'll see about that ;)

Aunt Jackie: Randomness is cool! I've now been using the thing for a full week, and just last night got a menu for this week... I must admit, I'm still looking forward to each meal.

I'm surprised so many liked the idea... I thought I would be shunned forever after that one ;)
