WWC / Garbage Day

After taking a week off from (just about everything) the WWC I am back to present some pictures for you. As you all should know by know - the WWC is brought to you by all our favorite walking plant with arms, Tink of Pickled Beef. The words for this week are CLOSE-UP and BACKGROUND.

I offer quite a few pics this week, to make up for my no-show last week.

But, before we go on. Let me just quickly tell you that I will probably be late with my own story for the PFC this month. I meant to start writing today, and finish it up tomorrow. Well, I didn't find the time today - and tomorrow there is this huge project I have to take care of. They're setting up a temporary junk yard around where I live tomorrow, and my mother has tons of junk she's been dying to get rid of. You know, bigger stuff. Like old furniture, mattresses or other things you can't fit in a regular trash-bin.

So, of course, I have offered to go over there and clean out her storage rooms and all that stuff... I got plenty of junk myself to rid myself of so it should prove quite an interesting day. Call it garbage day! After that - I am headed to the gym. So, I'm not likely to return home until after 9PM - and you can understand that leaves little time for writing a story.

When I get home though, I'll quickly gather all the links and set them up on the sidebar here to those who have posted on time. I will not be reading or commenting on your stories though, until I have my own up on Thursday.

Enough of the PFC - lets have a look at this edition of the WWC.

In honor of the word BACKGROUND I have stored each of these images in 1024x768 resolution, so they can all be saved onto your computers for use as your desktop BACKGROUND... just click my name on the slideshow, and it'll take you to the Picasa web album where you can download the pictures in all their glory (how'z that for original?)

Here they are:

And that does it for this edition of the Weekly Words Challenge. I took a quick peek over at Tink's place to find out the words for next week, and they are FIVE and WIND. Great! Thanks... it is always windy around here... except for the last three or four days - what Weather God shall I pray to for some wind?

In addition to my lateness of the PFC - I'll put up a post first thing in the morning where you will be able to announce your stories, so people can start checking it out before I get back home to update the links.

Nice pictures. Glad you are going to be late for the PFC... gives me an excuse to be late too. I'm about half done (I think) but my brain is sluggish.

Good luck with the garbage day festivities.

Single In The City: I was so adamant to have my PFC done in time this month, but here I am - again - without a single word written on it... When will I learn?

So, you want to sail away to a beautiful tropical island with me on that boat? ;)

Raven: Yeah, it's almost a shame to be late to my own party though, but at least I'm giving y'all a heads up. It'll actually be fun to get rid of all that junk that's just been taking up space!

HA! I'm gonna have my PFC on time and now YOU'RE gonna be late! Actually I'm posting mine later tonight otherwise I'll throw it out and start over. I had a habit of doing that in school too.

Anyway, great pics dude. Lots of great scenery there. And the sun was out! Is it warming up?

Busy busy man! Did you clean that door knob for Farmer*swife? Love the photos this week. Actually I always do come to think of it. Good luck with your garbage tomorrow!

Cool pictures. Sounds like you are having what we call "bulk garbage day". One of my favorite days of the year.

Dude, you totally rocked this one. I mean, wow, outdid yourself for the WWC this week. Very nice. I can't even pick a favorite, though the door knob was way cool.

I really like seeing pictures of your surroundings. Funny how it looks like stuff over here isn't it!
have fun on garbage day. I wish we had one of those! then I wouldn't have to PAY to take all my sh*t to the dump. this getting organized is getting expensive. :)
Have fun!

These photos were really incredible! You rocked it this week...my favorite was the doorknob...also loved the very green plant, the waffles (with BUTTER love!) & the clock tower, great perspective on that one.

I wrote my PFC on Saturday but I haven't reread it yet, that could go either way :P

Great photos. I'd go with the round building as my favorite.

See you tomorrow for PFC

Great pics, as always :)
Do folks go "junking" there (dig through the stuff for treasures to take home)? That was always a big deal when we lived in Germany; antiques for free! Sadly, I was no good at it.

Jay: I'm being late for you... you know, that way you don't have to feel bad about being late last month ;)

Still not very warm, but hopefully it will be soon enough - sick and tired of the cold.

Knight: It doesn't look dirty, does it? Well, I did forget to clean it for her, but hopefully she'll be cool with it ;)

Glad you like my pictures!

Karen: This is the first time ever they set this up around here, so I'm guessing the yard will be full of garbage towards the end of the day ;)

Newt: Thank You! I did try to make up a litle for last week ;)

Reb: Can't wait for spring to arrive! Nothing better than warm weather.

Glad you liked the pics!

TT: Sweden looks pretty much alike the States in some parts.

Garbage day today is a good initiative... we usually have to pay to take it to the junk yard too (never quite understood that... do they want to encourage people to throw junk in the woods?). This is free and the city will pay to get rid of it. Good deal!

Dana: That is the clock tower of a church located right in the center of downtown here. It's a nice looking church.

Single In The City: Glad to still be your "R" ;) And, of course I'd take you to a tropical island!

Jo: Butter AND maple syrup delight on my breakfast waffles! ;)

Can hardly wait to read your PFC!

Jeff B: That round building is an old water tower that has been converted to an apartment building... expensive apartments up there...

Glad you're joining the PFC!

Guilty Secret: I had to come up with something to justify my pictures for the word BACKGROUND! ;)

Kcinnova: I'm sure some people will be scavenging the garbage looking for treasures ;) I wonder if someone might be interesting in my fully functional old spring mattress that I'll be taking over there ;)

You leave us hanging, then you woo us with photos like that uber-smoooooth white doorknoob!
I could smell the coffee coming from that one photo, mmmmmm coffee

Wow Reh. There were so many excellent pictures in there, I'm not sure I could pick just one. I love the colors, so vibrant! That door handle was interesting. I've never seen another like it. Well played!

Love,
The plant with arms

speaking of junk, there's this guy that drives around in the parking lot in front of my office, and ive seen him like 5 times, and his 1995 toyota carolla is piled high with junk. newspapers, bags, etc... just full of shit. i can only imagine how rancid it smells. anyway, i always wonder if he's a gypsy or some shit, living in his car.

Oooh, pretty bright green plant! I can't wait until we get some green like that outside. It's only a matter of days...

[Previous delete was me. Couldn't stand the typo hounding me]

Liked the door knob. I actually purchased six antique glass door knobs today (with a pink hue) for decor in my Lil'gal's room.

Liked the other pics too, though :)

[FYI, I swiped over your knob a few times with a clorox wipe. All nice and degermied for you now!]

What a great idea to arrange it so the pics can BE background. You're so cool ;)

I love the doorknob. It has an air of movie poster about it. I also love the round building.

Hope garbage day goes easy on the back. I love getting rid of stuff.

R.E.H. said...

Fortune Cookies: Everyone seems to like that doorknob :) So do I, I must admit! And the smell of coffee is wonderful out there...

Tink: Glad you liked'em! Now, am I forgiven for missing out last week? ;)

Tequila Mockingbird: Lots of crazy people driving around like that... I just try to stay away from them ;)

I did speak to a guy who lived in his car once, now that I think of it.

Sparkling Red: Oh, yes - green plants are so much nicer than the brown ones that are currently out there. Bring on spring!

Farmer*s Wife: Wow! You even went out and bought antique door knobs? I just use whatever ones are in the house ;)

Thanks for cleaning mine though - they needed it!

Dianne: Thanks. Garbage day went fine. Didn't get rid of everything I'd hoped, but we still got most of it out. I can actually walk into my storage room now - as if it was a room!

Did you made this one with me in mind? I really like this one! I think it is my favorite!
