Funday Sunday: "Full Metal Jacket"

Well... I decided on a slightly different Funday Sunday clip today. While this is not really laugh-out-loud stuff, it keeps me watching with a grin on my face from start to finish.

Stanely Kubrik's Full Metal Jacket is one of the best films ever made in my opinion, and half of that comes from the intro scene alone. This is simply outstanding stuff. If you haven't seen the movie, it is about time you go out and find yourself a DVD - run home with it held firmly in your hand, and immediately pop it into the DVD player upon your return home. I keep finding this masterpiece on discount everywhere so you don't have to spend a lot of money to get it (though, I find it a disgrace they offer this one cheap).

Well... I'm keeping it short today. I've posted a couple of long ones the last two days, so I guess you're all looking for a break from this Rambling Madman.

If all goes to plan - tomorrow will mark the debut of "Rubicon Heart".

It's especially a great movie when you've been in the military and KNOW these people really do exhist!

Jay: Yeah, definitely one of the best ever!

Tequila Mockingbird: I hope that someone isn't me.

Cardiogirl: hehe, Thanks. I thought you might enjoy this one.

My favorite however is:

I bet you're the kind of person who would fuck a person in the ass and not even have the goddamn common courtesy to give him a reach-around.

That line breaks out the laughter in me every single time!

Dana: I bet that is the truth - but I doubt they're quite as funny and witty as R. Lee Ermey's character ;)

I have resisted watching that movie for more years than I am willing to admit. But I watched that clip just for you, and I will admit that I was... entertained. Specially by the guy who couldn't quit grinning.

Fiwa: Why would you resist watching one of the greatest movies ever made?

Never seen it either. It's definitely a man movie. Although I will recommend it to this chick who wants to join up with the Marines. Which of course in my opinion is a BIG mistake. But we won't go into that right now. Can't wait to read the debut of "Rubicon Heart". Have a good Monday R.E.H.

My hubby loves that movie..of course..he's a retired Marine...I like it up untill it gets um...shall we say...messy.

I'm ready for Rubicon Heart....bring it on......

Karen: Being disturbing is part of what makes it so great ;)

Loving Annie: That scene is cinematic history already. I can watch it thousands of times and still enjoy it.

Beautifully Profound: I never did any military service myself. I am anti-war, I guess. Recommending this movie to your friend will do one of two things.

1. Scare her off the idea, and your mission is completed.

2. Make her want it even more, and she'll start packing tomorrow.

ETK: Welcome!

It is a very loveable movie!

TT: Your hubby has good taste in movies... and women ;)

Lakota Princess: Yes, you should really check this one out! It's not a scary movie, though - but a darn good one!

Leighann: Kicked Ass is a very good description of it indeed!

You can't go wrong with Kubrick, you just can't. I don't care what they said about that last movie he did. I just don't care.

Samantha K: I hate to admit it, but Eyes Wide Shut has somehow not made it onto a television or movie screen in my vicinity yet... I'll have to make sure that changes soon enough!
