Most of us hate watching the commercials on TV... and I'm no different. However, every now and then a commercial shows up that you actually enjoy watching... sadly - for me, it appears - most of those are banned shortly after. Maybe that has got something to do with my twisted sense of humor.
This one, which I present to you today is an XBox commercial which found its way to a television set near me a few years ago. It is the single most memorable commercial I've ever seen, and the first couple of times that I saw it I was laughing hysterically.
It was banned shortly after, and I can't for the life of me figure out why. Yes, it's slightly brutal - and yes someone dies... but come on! Are we really that sensitive that we can't handle or see the humor in this one? According to the people who decide for us what's good television and what is not?
End of the line... no matter what you think - this one is simply brilliant!
Give me more classy commercials like this one, and I might even end up buying a product or two that you sell!
PS. As a side-note... No! I do not own an XBox as a result of viewing this commercial... in fact - up until I found this on YouTube I always thought it was a PlayStation ad... which I don't own either ;)

I have never seen that!! OMG...I got the giggles half way through when I noticed he was ageing. I agree, it's a hoot. Wonder why they pulled it? I've always liked foreign commercials. They're the funniest; not to mention the rauchiest too. Love me some raunchie giggles :)
I'm telling you, we are a little too uptight here in the U.S. I hadn't seen this one either but found it quite hysterical!
whoa whats up? the vid isn't showing for me! i'm missing out!!
I'm not a fan of commercials either, but this one was hysterical!
Call me perverted but I swear I saw a penis peeking out in one of the shots. Maybe that's why it was banned??
I thought I'd share my favorite commercial with you!!

That's freakin' hilarious! I had never seen it before. It is great and I don't understand why it was banned. Really.
The husband has an XBox 360 & I love to watch him play! He doesn't play those boring sports games though. I will play any of the Halo games, but that's all you'll find me taking a shot at.
You need an XBox.
TT: I'm pretty sure this one is American produced though... that looks very much like Robert Loggia as the elderly man.
Dana: Cable is the only way to go... can't stand all the censoring going on elsewhere.
Jay Cam: I don't know what the problem is... try coming back later - it works fine for me, and apparently for everyone else ;)
Leighann: I haven't focused my gaze on that particular region, so I've not noticed any male genitalia sticking out ;)
Checked out your recommended commercial as well... that one was funny too!
Jen: I used to play a lot of games, but I've always preferred the PC for my gaming experience. These days - I don't play much at all.
Do you think it might have been banned because it starts with a woman blowing a fetus out of her crotch at about the same speed of an intercontinental ballistic missile?
hahahahaah
I'm just guessing here. ;-)
That WAS a funny commercial!
Jay: LOL! I guess you have a point there - that could be part of the decision to ban it ;)
Must be the nudity...We can see boobs but when it comes to penis, it is a big tabou!!
But this is a really good one!!
Presently gaming on PS2!!
Jill: But there is no penis in view! I think Leighann mistook a finger for a weiner, common mistake ;)
I think Jay was onto something there... the launching of the child into the world is [hilariously] shocking ;)
Do we have to actually see a penis to make as provocative?? Men genetallia are way more absent from tv!
I actually saw that ad play on the big screen in a movie theatre. Intense!
Maybe too intense for the average bear.
Jill: Guess you're right... simply suggesting the appearance of a male dinger is enough to offend some people.
Sparkling Red: Oh... it must have been amazing to see it on the big screen... It is wonderfully shot ;)
I loved it! I agree with Jay, I think it was banned b/c of the birthing scene--maybe pregnant women started to worry their babies would shoot out of them like bottle-rockets LOL
I love my son's Xbox, we like to blow each other up as a family.
Both five year old's ask enough questions. Thank God they didn't see it.
Daughter loves to talk about her "vagina" and thinks nudity is a blast. I'm already worried about when she gets bigger. Or worse gets boobs. So nudity in commercials? It frightens me to think.
*L* ;)
Funny commercial. And the fact that you loved the commercial and made such an impression on you, BUT you didn't remember what the product was, is hysterical.
Jo: Haha! Well, any pregnant woman who starts to worry about that after seeing this would have serious issues to begin with ;)
Butterfly Girl: I can actually see this commercial bringing up a few tough questions to answer the kids... the whole life and death issue.
But, that's no grounds for banning it, is it?
Karen: Yeah, I never pay much attention to the product in commercials. I think it's my subconscious rebelling against advertisement ;)
R.E.H.
Actually, I meant the OTHER sort of teasing.
See Here.
I can't help it that I seek out the man meat! It's a sickness I tell ya!
I had to laugh at Jay's comment, I didn't even consider that as an option. LMAO
I can say, from experience though, that those little suckers do come out FAST at times!
So you'd sit around and watch that "Best commercials of the year" show with me?
Score!
i like european TV. porn on during the day, nudity in commericals. mmmm yeah, that's more like it!
I, for one, love commercials, I'm a weird human, I know. I have a few posts at my place talking about 'em too. I remember seeing this one and loving it. (The male people I live with currently own an XBox... I'm being Guitar Hero'ed to death as we blog... not flying thru the air naked to death, thank goodness...)
~Angela~: Oh, sorry... guess I've got a one track mind ;)
Leighann: If they came out THAT fast, it would be cause for concern.
"Here he comes... CATCH!"
The more I think of it, I think Jay is right. Initially I thought it was the end where he crashes into the grave - but now I'm thinking the birth is the reason. Maybe they'd gotten off better if it wasn't for the quick close-up of th umbilical cord snapping ;)
Samantha K: I'd sit around watching anything with you Samantha ;)
Tequila Mockingbird: I've never seen any porn during the day on European television... you are thinking about the internet ;)
Elle: If commercials were always as good as this one, I'd look forward to the commercial breaks on TV.
Yeah even for a seasoned child birther such as myself, seeing that was a BIT harsh!
My second daughter came out with 3 pushes and it took the doctor and 2 nurses to catch her, THAT should count for something! LOL
Leighann: Haha... you make child birth sound like some sporting event ;)
